Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

All Economic Class programs are designed to attract immigrants to Canada who can economically establish themselves in the country.

The Federal Skilled Worker program is a component of the Economic Class and is managed through the Express Entry program. The current estimated processing time is approximately 6 months from the receipt of an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

To be eligible to apply, you must meet the program requirements for the Federal Skilled Worker program:

  • • Possess at least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience, or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment, in an occupation classified under the TEER system. Alternatively, you can qualify for Arranged Employment In Canada with a full-time, permanent job offer from a Canadian employer, supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), or without an LMIA if you are exempt.
  • Hold a Canadian diploma, certificate, or credential, and/or a foreign educational credential, accompanied by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) conducted by an IRCC-approved agency to demonstrate its equivalence to a completed Canadian secondary or post-secondary educational credential.
  • Attain a minimum language score of CLB 7 (Canadian Language Benchmark) or its equivalent.
  • Have sufficient settlement funds to support yourself and your family for a period of six months after arrival in Canada.

Final Criteria for Permanent Residence: Once selected from the Express Entry Pool and issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA), candidates and their dependents must undergo medical examinations and obtain security clearances as part of the Canadian immigration application process.
